histrionics

Not only do Victorian melodramatics strike one as grotesque; but even films no more than twenty years old, and highly valued at the time, appear surprisingly dated--overdone, obvious, over-explicit.


Joice would perhaps be the perfect writer--if the perfect reader existed.
